Review: Star Wars Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

The great thing about the Star Wars franchise is that any movie can be made with just a change of planets and a new battle. The Empire Strikes Back uses alot of the same things in A New Hope, but places them in another atmosphere (SNOW PLANET! SWAMP PLANET!), with some cool new ships (AT-AT’s!!) and even introduces some new characters (some green puppet?).

The thing about Episode V that stood out most to me is how funny it can be. Even though the fate of whole planets are at stake, humor is not lost on Chewy, Han and the gang. While the action from the all the other episodes is still there, I found myself laughing more in The Empire more than any of the other ones. Another great thing about Episode V is how iconic it is. Think about it: in one movie we get Yoda, Han in carbonite, the big twist, and Boba Fett.

My Rating: B
